Mariah Carey is an internationally recognised celebrity, not just for her singing though. The award winning singer is known all around the world for her sometimes over-the-top demands. Her most recent request included 20 white kittens and 100 white doves so accompany her while she turned on the Christmas lights at Westfield Shopping Centre.
Amazingly enough, Westfield Health and Safety went along with the 100 white doves, however, they refused the kittens as “no pets allowed in Westfield”. These 2 requests weren’t the only things she had on her list. She also wanted a pink carpet (not red), 80 security guards, a Rolls Royce to drive her round the centre and finally a wand to ‘wave’ the lights on. All of which were supplied to her!
These demands from her are nothing new, the singer even has high demands at home. She insists on maintaining her bedroom with rainforest like humidity levels. She manages this by using 20 humidiers that surround her bed and create the steam room like climate that she sleeps in. The reason why she does this is to preserve her vocal cords, just one of the health benefits of humidifiers. I wonder whether she uses a ceiling fan to remove all the steam in the morning.
Many people would consider her demands to be extremely high and costly, however, she’s not alone. There are several other singers that request alot. Guns N’ Roses are one that demand to have a variety of adult magazines. Cher is another one, she demands that she has two dressing rooms, one simply for her wigs. The final one, and possibly the biggest competition for Mariah, would be Iggy Pop who gives his host an 18 page book of his extremely detailed, sometimes lengthy, requests. Some of which include no toy robots and plastic seahorses.
Although all the singers listed above are demanding, none are known to use humidifiers, like Mariah, despite their health benefits. I’m also a little surprised that none of them use air purifiers as these also have considerable health benefits. Especially when you consider how important a singer’s lungs are, a air purifier can clean the air of most impurities.
